All 22 candidates fail at four Jamalpur colleges, one records zero passes for a second straight year

Not a single one of the 22 candidates who sat this year's Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations from four institutions in Jamalpur has passed. The pass rate at each of the four institutions is zero percent.
The figures emerged on Saturday (October 31) morning from an analysis of the results published by the Mymensingh Education Board.
According to the board's results, six candidates sat the exam from Sreepur Kumaria Nasuba Hakim Girls' School and College in Jamalpur Sadar upazila. None of them passed.
Four candidates took the exam from SM Shikha Mukhlesur Rahman College at Char Saguna in Ghosherpara union of Melandah upazila. All of them failed.
The failure is not a first for that college. Last year, too, 10 of its candidates sat the exam and none passed, leaving the institution with a zero pass rate for two consecutive years.
In addition, five candidates from Nabbachar High School and College in Madarganj upazila and seven from Goalerchar High School and College in Islampur upazila sat the exam, and none of them passed either.
The principal of Nabbachar High School and College said the institution is not yet on the MPO (monthly pay order) list, so its teachers work in other occupations to earn a living and regular classes cannot be held. They will try to improve the situation in the future, the principal said.
Additional District Magistrate and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Afsana Taslim said they have learned about the zero pass rate at the district's four institutions. A thorough investigation will be carried out and a detailed report sent to the education board, and further legal and administrative steps will be taken based on the findings, she said.
