Not One Student Passed the HSC at 14 Institutions in Nilphamari; All 139 Candidates Failed
In Nilphamari, not a single student passed the HSC and equivalent examinations at 14 educational institutions. All 139 students who sat the exams at these institutions failed.
The picture emerged in the HSC examination results published on Saturday (October 31). The institutions where every student failed include 12 colleges and two Alim madrasas.
At Adarsha College in the district's Sadar upazila, 40 students sat this year's HSC examination, but none of them passed. The institution has 36 teachers and staff.
Among the colleges, 6 candidates at Panchpukur School and College in Nilphamari Sadar, 2 at Taranibari School and College and 1 at Lakshmichap Srijanshil College sat the exam and none passed. In Kishoreganj upazila, all 51 candidates at Bherbheri Majhapara School and College and all 3 at Nayankhal School and College failed.
In Domar upazila, 5 candidates at Jamirbari Mahila College and 3 at Bagdokara Nimojkhana High School and College sat the exam and did not pass, as did 2 candidates at Samiruddin Adarsha High School and College in Jaldhaka upazila. In Dimla upazila, 2 candidates at Adabari School and College, 1 at Zila Parishad School and College and 1 at Gayakharibari Mahila College all failed.
Under the Madrasa Education Board, 7 candidates at Porahat Islamia Alim Madrasa in Saidpur and 15 at Panga Choupothi Abdul Majid Alim Madrasa in Domar sat the exam and all failed.
Teachers said that not being MPO-listed, a lack of infrastructure facilities, a shortage of teachers and a scarcity of quality teaching materials are disrupting the learning environment. Many experienced teachers have been teaching without pay for a long time, making it difficult for them to continue in the role.
Sariul Islam, a lecturer at Adarsha College in Nilphamari Sadar upazila, said: 'The institution has been running for 25 years. The students studied well. I cannot understand why this happened this time. There has never been a result like this before. The institution has 36 teachers and staff. Their salaries have not even started. They are living an inhumane life.'
District Education Officer Hafizur Rahman could not be reached for comment despite several attempts to contact him by mobile phone.
