Education System Destroyed Over 16 Years, Shibir Leader Sibgatullah Says in Jamalpur

Staff Reporter

Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir general secretary Sibgatullah Sibga has said the country's education system was destroyed bit by bit over the past 16 years. He said the education system has failed to produce proper human beings.

He made the remarks while answering journalists' questions on Saturday night (October 31) after a Sathi assembly organised by the Jamalpur district branch of Chhatra Shibir at the district Jamaat office in the Sardarpara area of Jamalpur town.

Sibgatullah Sibga said that, in light of the proposals of the education commission formed in 2009, the Awami League destroyed the education system step by step over the past 16 years. He also alleged that question papers were leaked at various levels, from primary school examinations to the BCS examination.

He added that students are studying within a fragile education system. There is no necessary coordination between the education system and industry for a student to get a job after finishing studies. He also commented that the current poor results are a failure of the government.

On the Thakurgaon election, Sibgatullah Sibga alleged that the ruling party exerted influence there, large amounts of money were spread around, and many people including minorities were intimidated. He also claimed that presiding officers were supposed to have their names and photos displayed but photos were missing, outsiders were found inside polling centres, and Chhatra Dal leaders and activists were caught casting fake votes.

He further alleged that the government has control over the media. He demanded media freedom and an environment in Bangladesh in which the media can work neutrally.
