AJR Parcel and Courier Service Limited's moving vehicles came under a series of attacks, vandalism and arson at three separate places in the capital. One driver was seriously injured and three of the courier service's vehicles were damaged.

The attacks took place at around 11:30 pm on Saturday (31 October) at almost the same time in front of the toll plaza of the Mayor Hanif flyover, at the Matsya Bhaban intersection and in the Rayerbag area.

According to eyewitnesses and sources at the affected courier service, at around 11:30 pm a group of 15 to 20 people launched a sudden attack on a moving AJR courier vehicle in front of the Mayor Hanif flyover toll plaza. The attackers vandalised the vehicle. The driver narrowly escaped with his life, but the vehicle was badly damaged.

At the same time, miscreants hurled brickbats at another moving vehicle of the courier service at the Matsya Bhaban intersection. The vehicle's front windshield shattered and the driver's head was split open by a brick blow. He was rescued in a seriously injured condition and taken to hospital.

Meanwhile, in the Rayerbag area, miscreants blocked the path of another moving AJR courier vehicle and vandalised it extensively. At one stage they set the vehicle on fire and fled. Most of the vehicle was burnt, causing extensive damage.

Three vehicles of the same company were attacked in three areas at almost the same time. In the attacks one vehicle was burnt down, another was badly vandalised, and in the Matsya Bhaban intersection incident a driver was admitted to hospital with a serious head injury.
