Tanti Dal Leader Humayun Kabir Hacked to Death at His Own Business in Khulna; Chhatra Dal Leader Accused

Attackers have hacked to death Syed Humayun Kabir, joint convener of the Khulna city unit of the Tanti Dal. He was attacked on Sunday evening (November 1) at his own business establishment in the Rayer Mahal Boro Masjid area of Khulna city, and later died while under treatment at hospital.

Local people said Humayun Kabir was at his business establishment, 'Hill Canteen', when the attackers struck him indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving him seriously injured. He was rescued and taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Humayun Kabir was the son of Syed Anwar Ali of the Rayer Mahal Boro Masjid area. The victim's nephew, Syed Didarul Karim Biplob, alleged that Chhatra Dal leader Arafat and his associates attacked Humayun Kabir with locally made weapons and hacked him indiscriminately.

Police from Sonadanga and Khalishpur stations visited the scene. Md Halimur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Aronghata police station, said: “I have heard about the matter. But police have been sent to the spot to find out where and how the incident happened.”

Md Abu Sayeed, convener of the Khulna city Tanti Dal, said: “Humayun Kabir was the joint convener of the Khulna city Tanti Dal. I came to Khulna Medical College Hospital after hearing the news of his killing. I still do not know who carried out this murder.”
