The West Indies have beaten Bangladesh comfortably in the first Test of the series in Mirpur. The eight-wicket win inside four days has greatly boosted the Caribbean side's confidence, and their target now is to whitewash Bangladesh. The second and final Test begins on November 5 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Despite losing to the West Indies, Bangladesh have won five of their last seven home Tests. Bangladesh sit in the top five of the Test Championship points table, while the West Indies are eighth. Floodlight problems and rain ate up many overs in the Mirpur Test, yet the Caribbean side won in commanding fashion.

Darren Sammy believes winning in Bangladesh is not easy. Speaking about the team's target in a Cricket West Indies (CWI) video message, the Windies coach said, 'The mindset is the same. But the hunger to win is a bit greater. The captain has also challenged the players. Our target has been clear since we arrived in Bangladesh. It is very important to end the year with good results.'

The Caribbean coach also reminded that the fight against Bangladesh will not be easy. His opposite number is another Caribbean legend, Phil Simmons, under whom Bangladesh have been playing well in Tests even if their one-day and T20 form is mixed. Sammy said, 'It will be difficult for Phil Simmons [to beat us]. He wants to win too. Bangladesh have their own targets in the World Test Championship. But seeing my players' hunger, hard work and preparation, I feel we are fully ready in Sylhet.'

Stressing the importance of an away series win against Bangladesh, Sammy added, 'The West Indies team is fully aware of what awaits on this tour. When the Test Championship cycle began in Barbados, a target was set, and we are eager to achieve that set target.'

Captain Roston Chase spun his magic with the ball alongside his batting in the first Test, and his all-round performance earned him a special award from the coach. Carrying the momentum of the first match, a whitewash of Bangladesh is now the Windies' goal in the Sylhet Test.
