BCB forms independent committee to hear women cricketers' complaints, headed by Barrister Rashna Imam
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has formed an independent committee for women cricketers to lodge complaints of sexual harassment and abuse. The five-member committee has been formed with Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Rashna Imam as its head.
The committee's other members are Barrister Nazia Kabir, Barrister Anita Gazi Rahman and Zarin Mahmud Hossain. A former cricketer will also be added to it. But that person's name has not yet been finalised.
The BCB has decided not to keep anyone directly connected with the board on the committee. It was stated that the decision to keep no board member was taken to ensure there is no internal influence or conflict of interest in receiving complaints and in investigations.
Rashna Imam was a member of the convening committee led by Tamim Iqbal before the BCB's most recent election. At that time she also handled the women's wing. Her husband Bobby Hajjaj is currently the state minister for primary and mass education.
In November 2025, former women's team captain Jahanara Alam raised allegations of sexual harassment against team selector and manager Manjurul Islam. After her allegation, the BCB moved into an investigation.
Later, several more cricketers and persons concerned also publicly brought forward their own experiences. Since then, the issue of harassment of women cricketers has been under increased discussion in the sporting arena.
