Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has climbed 43 places in the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2027, published by the UK-based international higher education and research organisation Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). The university placed 644th among Asian universities in the latest list.

In last year’s rankings, JUST stood at 687th. The 43-place jump in a single year is being seen as a sign of the university’s progress.

QS published the 2027 Asia rankings on its website on 3 November.

JUST ranks third among Bangladesh’s science and technology universities in this year’s list. Among universities in South Asia, it stands 180th.

Its previous best came in the 2024 QS Asia rankings, when it was placed in the 551–600 band.

This year’s rankings include 1,722 universities from 26 Asian countries. The University of Hong Kong took first place and China’s Peking University came second.

Among Bangladeshi universities, the University of Dhaka secured the top position overall. Among the country’s science and technology universities, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology ranked first.

JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Yarul Kabir said the 43-place improvement over last year was joyful and promising news for them, and he congratulated everyone in the university family.

The vice-chancellor added that they still have room to do better. They want to identify those areas and work together in the future, and he sought everyone’s cooperation to take JUST to greater heights.
