Arrest Warrant Issued for Actress Pori Moni After She Fails to Appear in Court
A court has ordered an arrest warrant against film actress Pori Moni. Her bail application was rejected and the order issued after she failed to appear in a case filed by Nasir Uddin Mahmud, a former president of Uttara Club Limited.
Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman passed the order on Wednesday (November 4).
The case dates back to July 18, 2022, when businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud filed a complaint case in a Dhaka court accusing Pori Moni of assault, vandalism, attempted murder and threats.
In the complaint, Nasir Uddin said that on June 8, 2021, Pori Moni and her associates went to the Boat Club in Savar, where they used the washroom and sat inside the club drinking alcohol.
According to the allegation, at around 1:15am, as she was leaving the club, Pori Moni called him over and pressured him to hand over a bottle of Blue Label alcohol free of charge.
When he refused, she allegedly abused him verbally and at one point threw a glass at him with intent to kill, which struck his head and chest, the case statement says.
The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) investigated the case and submitted its report to the court last April against Pori Moni and her costume designer Junaid Bogdadi Jimi.
Police and court-related sources said the PBI found the allegation of assault on Nasir Uddin to be true, and the report also mentioned that the claim of him being injured by the glass thrown by Pori Moni was found to be true.
