Khulna court-area double murder: police file chargesheet against 13 accused

Police have filed a chargesheet in court naming 13 accused in the case over the double murder in Khulna's court area. The investigation officer, Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Khulna Sadar police station, submitted the chargesheet on Wednesday (4 November).
The chargesheeted accused are Ejaz, Kamrul, Shuvo, Hasib, Roman, Kauwa Miraj, Chingri Polash, Saifi, Munna, Lobi Gazi, Imran, Arefin and Rezaul Munshi Hridoy.
Investigation officer Mizanur Rahman said the two much-discussed killings were carried out over the drug trade, extortion, establishing dominance, murder and old enmity.
He added that the murder was plotted the night before at an office of the criminal Imran at Senarbazar in the Aichgati area of Rupsa upazila. Acting on that plan, Hasib Hawlader and Fazle Rabbi Rajon were killed in front of the court on 30 November.
On 30 November 2024, Hasib Hawlader and Fazle Rabbi Rajon, two members of the gang of Khulna's top criminal Polash, came to court to appear in an arms case. After the appearance, they were standing in front of a tea stall in front of the court.
At that point several attackers launched a sudden assault on them. The assailants hacked and shot the two men to death. The killings on the road in front of the court in broad daylight created panic among the public.
