Two to three low-pressure systems may form over the Bay of Bengal in November, and one or two of them may develop into cyclones. The information comes from the Meteorological Department's long-range forecast for November.

According to the forecast, rainfall in the country this month is likely to be below normal. On November 1, a meeting of the expert committee was held at the Storm Warning Centre in Agargaon in the capital to prepare the long-range forecast, and the November outlook was given at that meeting.

The forecast says day and night temperatures may fall gradually this month. Overall, however, day and night temperatures may remain above normal.

Light to moderate fog may occur in places in the country and in river basins from late night to morning this month. Water flow in the country's main rivers may remain normal during this time, the forecast also says.

By division, Dhaka may receive 15 to 25 millimetres of rain in November. The normal rainfall for the month in this division is 26 millimetres.

Mymensingh division may receive 10 to 15 millimetres, Sylhet 15 to 25, Rajshahi 10 to 15, Khulna 15 to 25 and Barishal 30 to 40 millimetres of rain, according to the forecast.

Chattogram division is likely to receive the most rain this month, at 35 to 40 millimetres. Rangpur division may receive the least, at 4 to 8 millimetres.

Earlier, the southwest monsoon withdrew from Bangladesh on October 9. Last month, rainfall in the country was 68 percent below normal.

According to the Meteorological Department, two low-pressure systems formed over the Bay of Bengal in October. One of them developed into the very severe cyclone 'Arnab'. The cyclone crossed India's Andhra Pradesh coast on October 28.

Last month, the country's highest temperature, 37.8 degrees Celsius, was recorded in Sylhet on October 17. The lowest temperature was 15.4 degrees Celsius, in Tetulia on October 27.
