Bangladesh witnessed an unwelcome incident on the second day of the Sylhet Test. Sadman Islam was injured while fielding on the boundary line, and the opener eventually had to leave the field on a stretcher.

West Indies began the second day's play on 235 for four wickets. Amir Jangoo and Justin Greaves gave the Caribbean side a good start. But Sadman's injury came as an early blow for Bangladesh.

Jangoo flicked the first ball of Mehidy Hasan Miraz's 78th over gently towards the leg side. Sadman ran to stop the ball as it headed for the boundary.

But as he rushed towards the boundary and bent low to stop the ball, his left ankle got caught in the ground and twisted. The left-handed batter collapsed to the ground in severe pain in an instant.

Physicians came onto the field and gave Sadman first aid. Even after his left shoe was taken off, he kept his face covered with both hands in pain.

In the end, he was carried off the field on a stretcher.

At the end of the first day, the visiting West Indies had lost four wickets for 235 runs. Bangladesh and West Indies took the field for the second day.

How serious Sadman's injury is, is not yet known.
