The West Indies first innings was heading towards a big total. But on the morning of the second day, Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud turned the match with the new ball, taking two wickets in a row in his very first over with it.

At the start of the day, the West Indies were 241 for 4 in 72 overs. On the first day, the visitors had been in trouble after losing 3 wickets for 27 runs.

A 131-run partnership between Amir Jangoo and debutant Kevin Wickham then rescued the West Indies. Wickham returned after scoring 61, but Jangoo went on to complete a century. Late in the day, Jangoo built another partnership with Joshua Greaves to take his team to a strong position.

Only 6 runs came from the first two overs of the second day. Hasan then struck in his first over with the new ball, first bowling centurion Jangoo. The left-handed batter played an innings of 133 runs.

On Hasan's next ball, visiting captain Roston Chase returned after being caught behind the wicket. Two wickets in two balls created a hat-trick chance for Hasan, but on the last ball of the over Joshua Bishop survived on review, and the hat-trick was not completed.

At the time of this report, the West Indies were 277 for 6 at the end of 85 overs.
