Kohli breaks Ponting's record to become top ODI run-scorer against New Zealand
Virat Kohli added another milestone to his illustrious ODI career. The Indian batting star broke Ricky Ponting's all-time record against New Zealand on Saturday.
In the second match of the series in Wellington, Kohli went past the Australian great by scoring just one run. Hitting a boundary off his second ball of the innings, the right-handed batter became the highest run-scorer in ODIs against New Zealand.
Ponting had held the top spot with 1,971 runs against the Black Caps. Former Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar is third on the list with 1,750 runs.
Next on the list is Kumar Sangakkara with 1,568 runs.
Kohli, however, could not extend his innings. He was caught by Young off Jacob Duffy for 7 runs off 7 balls, with that one boundary.
In the match, New Zealand were bowled out for 134 runs. India then came out to chase the target.
