MP Zahirul Islam urges raising new generation with religious and moral education

Staff Reporter

Banshkhali Member of Parliament Principal Maulana Zahirul Islam has called for raising the new generation with religious and moral education alongside formal schooling. He made the call while speaking as chief guest at the annual meeting and mahfil of the Romiz Uddin Shah Darul Quran Islamia Madrasa, orphanage and Hifz centre in the Kalipur area of Banshkhali on Saturday (7 November).

He said the new generation must be educated in religious and moral values so that they are never led astray. Knowledge teaches people to tell truth from falsehood and good from bad, he said, adding that through knowledge a person comes to know both oneself and the Creator.

The MP said knowledge also plays an immense role in the development and progress of the individual, society and the state. He said Islam has made seeking knowledge obligatory, because without knowledge it is impossible to distinguish truth from falsehood, justice from injustice, and good from bad.

Knowledge enlightens people, awakens conscience and shows the way to walk the right path, he said, adding that this is why it is essential to educate the new generation in religious and moral learning alongside institutional education.

MP Zahirul Islam said there is no alternative to education in building an ideal society and a developed state. In this regard, he said, the Romiz Uddin Shah Darul Quran Islamia Madrasa, orphanage and Hifz centre is playing an important role.

Hafez Maulana Hossain Ahmad, Principal Azizul Islam, Maulana Enamul Haque Jihadi, Maulana Mir Ahmad Ansari and Maulana Mustafizur Rahman, among others, also spoke at the annual meeting and mahfil.

The speakers stressed the spread of religious education, the practice of moral values and educating the new generation in proper learning. They said a generation enlightened by religious education can make an important contribution to the welfare of family, society and the state.

At one stage of the programme, the MP inspected the madrasa building under construction and announced a financial donation.

In the closing phase of the programme, prizes were handed to the madrasa's meritorious students. Students, guardians, teachers, alem-olama and local dignitaries were present at the time.
