Staff Reporter

Temperatures have begun to fall gradually in Panchagarh, the northern district of Bangladesh. The feeling of cold is growing, especially in the early morning and at night. During the day, however, the sun still feels somewhat warm, so the weather differs between day and night.

At 9am on Sunday (8 November), the lowest temperature recorded in Tetulia in the district was 16.5 degrees Celsius. The day before, on Saturday, the lowest temperature was 17.2 degrees Celsius.

According to the Tetulia weather observation centre, the highest temperature on 1 November was 32.2 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature recorded the next day, 2 November, was 20.8 degrees. After that, the lowest temperatures were 19.7 degrees on 3 November, 17.4 on 4 November, 19 on 5 November, 17.7 on 6 November, 17.2 on 7 November and 16.5 degrees Celsius today, 8 November.

Earlier, on 27 and 28 October, the lowest temperatures in Tetulia were 15.4 and 15.5 degrees Celsius respectively. The temperature then rose to 20.7 degrees on 29 October, and the feeling of cold eased somewhat for a few days.

Local residents said a light chill is felt in the early morning and after evening, but the daytime sun feels warm. With this change in the weather, the cold is felt more at night than during the day.

Jitendranath Roy, officer-in-charge of the Tetulia weather observation centre, said the temperature in Panchagarh has been falling gradually over the past few days. It may fall further, slowly, in the coming days. There is a possibility of a mild cold wave sweeping the district in December.

He also said the lowest temperature recorded in Tetulia at 9am on Sunday was 16.5 degrees Celsius.
