Data-based plans will be taken for the development of marginalised communities: Dr Jahed Ur Rahman

The results of the data-collection exercise will play an important role in formulating future development plans that take into account the living standards and socio-economic condition of the country's marginalised communities, particularly members of small ethnic groups, said Dr Jahed Ur Rahman, the prime minister's adviser on information and broadcasting.
He made the remarks on Tuesday (3 November) at a press briefing on the progress of various government activities, held at the conference room of the Press Information Department (PID) in the capital.
The prime minister's adviser said the data-collection work has already been completed. A large part of the country's marginalised population are members of small ethnic communities, so the collected data will play an effective role when the government takes up plans and programmes for public welfare in future.
He also said that news critical of the government certainly carries news value. But beyond that, important information related to public interest and positive matters also need to be highlighted in the media.
