Trailer for ‘Jumanji: Open World’ out; Dwayne Johnson returns for the final adventure

Staff Reporter

The new trailer for Jumanji: Open World, the latest instalment of Hollywood’s popular adventure-comedy franchise Jumanji, has been officially released. The action-comedy, starring franchise lead Dwayne Johnson, has been directed by Jake Kasdan.

Hinting at an entirely new story beyond the familiar boundaries of the video game, the film is set to release in cinemas worldwide on 25 December for Christmas.

The released trailer shows that this time the characters are no longer trapped inside the game; instead, Jumanji’s dangerous creatures and threats have entered the real world directly.

The characters who overcame various challenges inside the game in previous adventures now face a completely unexpected danger in their own familiar world. With the line between the fictional game’s characters and the real world erased, a chaotic and thrilling situation unfolds, and the main characters must take the field once again to handle it.

Almost all of the franchise’s principal cast have reunited for the upcoming film. Alongside Dwayne Johnson in the lead, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan will be seen again. Nick Jonas has also returned in his previous role.

The young and real-world versions of the characters are played by Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Rhys Darby and veteran actor Danny DeVito.

Inspired by the original 1995 classic Jumanji starring Robin Williams, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was released in 2017 and Jumanji: The Next Level in 2019 for a new generation. The new instalment has been made in continuation of that series.

Alongside Matt Tolmach, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia, Dwayne Johnson himself is one of the film’s producers.

Alongside the worldwide English release, Sony Pictures Entertainment has decided to release the film simultaneously in India in four languages — English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
