Bangladesh end day two on 88 for 3 in Sylhet Test as Hridoy and Mushfiqur resist

Bangladesh ended the second day of the Sylhet Test on 88 for 3 in 40 overs in their first innings. After losing early wickets, Tawhid Hridoy and Mushfiqur Rahim resisted to take the hosts through the final session in relative comfort.
Bangladesh still trail by 268 runs in the first innings. West Indies were earlier bowled out for 356.
Hasan Mahmud took 6 wickets with an outstanding bowling display to dismiss West Indies for 356. Taskin Ahmed took 2 wickets and Mehidy Hasan Miraz also took 2.
Bangladesh did not start well with the bat. Nayeem Hasan, opening for the first time because of Sadman Islam's injury, was dismissed for just 5 runs.
When Tanzid Hasan was out for 16, Bangladesh had lost 2 wickets for 22 runs. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Hridoy steadied the innings for a while, but the captain was lost in the final session.
Shanto scored 18 before he was bowled by Shamar Joseph. His partnership with Hridoy produced 29 runs.
Hridoy then saw out the rest of the day with Mushfiqur. Their unbroken fourth-wicket partnership added 37 runs.
Hridoy finished the day unbeaten on 29, while Mushfiqur was on 19 at the other end. Their partnership saved Bangladesh from a far more difficult end to the day.
