MP Manik urges meritorious students to become good human beings along with good results

Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik, member of parliament for Chandpur-3, has called on meritorious students in Chandpur to grow up as good human beings, inspired by moral education, honesty and human values — not merely to achieve good results.
He said today’s meritorious students will lead the country and the nation in the days ahead. That is why, along with acquiring knowledge from student life itself, they must acquire morality, discipline and human qualities.
He said this while speaking as chief guest at a reception on Sunday afternoon (8 November) for scholarship-winning and GPA-5 achieving meritorious students of the primary, junior and SSC levels of Chandpur Lady Protima Mitra Girls’ High School.
Attending the programme held on the school premises as chief guest, the member of parliament handed over honours to the students.
He said educating girls and making them self-reliant is one of the conditions for building a developed society.
He said students must dream of growing up in life, and must pursue regular perseverance and hard work to realise that dream. Success in life is possible if one moves ahead with confidence, keeping the goal fixed.
He assured the students that any of their reasonable expectations and problems would be considered seriously and help would be extended.
The programme was chaired by the school’s head teacher, Mosammat Morsheda Yasmin, and the chief speaker was Nahida Sultana, president of the school’s managing committee.
The programme was conducted by assistant teacher Poly Rani Das, and class-nine student Athaiya Das Tithi spoke at it.
At the start of the programme, class-nine student Lamia Binte Ahmed recited from the Holy Quran, and class-seven student Adhara Rani Das read from the holy Gita.
Among those present were district BNP vice-presidents Khalilur Rahman Gazi and Ferdous Alam Babu, municipal BNP president Akhtar Hossain Majhi, district Jubo Dal organising secretary Faisal Ahmed Bahar, former district Chhatra Dal president Iman Hossain Gazi, current committee convener Ismail Hossain Patwary and member secretary Ziaur Rahman Sohag, along with the school’s teachers, students, guardians and invited guests.
At the programme, a total of 11 scholarship-winning students and 10 students who achieved GPA-5 in the SSC examination, from the school’s primary, junior and SSC levels, were honoured.
