UGC to sit with vice-chancellors on Monday over 2026-27 university admission tests

Staff Reporter

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has called an emergency meeting with the vice-chancellors of the country's universities to decide how admission tests for public universities will be held in the 2026-27 academic year.

The meeting will be held on Monday (9 November) in the UGC meeting room.

UGC Chairman Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed will chair the meeting, which will be attended by members of the commission, representatives of the Education Ministry and the vice-chancellors of the country's public universities.

The meeting will discuss the plan for organising admission tests for the 2026-27 academic year, the admission processes of different universities and other related matters.

The method of holding the admission tests and the question of holding the tests in a coordinated way may also come up for discussion.

After the meeting, UGC Chairman Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed will brief journalists on the subjects discussed, the plan for organising the admission tests, the decisions taken and the next steps.

The briefing is scheduled to be held tomorrow at 12:30 pm in the meeting room on the sixth floor of the UGC. The decisions of the meeting and the plan for organising the admission tests will be announced at the briefing.
